This is a blurb about how I feel about this whole project being put on hiatus. I am angry, ashamed and disgusted at the manner this was done it, Im ashamed of how the lead went about dealing with it, it was done in an unprofessional and immature way. Angry at the insulting and demotivating way we were all basical fired with no message or warning, left to figure stuff out for ourselves. And i am disgusted on how fast people gave up and jumped ship and complained about how slow the project was moving when in turn they barely invested any real time into the project. I also feel disgusted in how the community split due to immature nature of the lead and how i could caught up in its pitifully bullying, and how insulting it is to say to someone ur project is “ded” when I as someone spend days a week working on it. A project is not dead as long as someone is working on it. For all purposes this project was for me and me alone. working on this project benefits me then and now continues to do so, now and long term. In fact i lose alot more by not working on it and lose at lot more from it being ded. So this project is for me and not for the community.

But goals haven't changed however, i will still be completing my goals, milestones and workload in this project. And I am luck to be surrounded by a group of friends that also feel the same way. I am excited to finish and release my very first art book alongside my friends and forge my very own complete fleshed out IP. When things get tough u don't give up and instead u bite the bullet and push thu.

I had no idea that was how everything was handled. I'll stick by you with whatever happens, and for all intensive purposes, I would be 100% ready to help if you need it, be it with really anything. Thank you.

It was very unprofessional. I don't plan on purchasing any products from any of the Lead Devs if I notice their names in the future.

Sadly, i approve with you. It is such a shame that the project died like that, without any kind of effort to make it stay alive.

It really is sad that we didn't have the capabilities to continue the rough grind to complete the game. It's even harder to have to end it, at the same time you can't exactly just list excuses. At the end of the day you either succeed or fail. Sometimes you will fail. Just have to take what you learned and apply it to the future. It's sad some people will completely avoid all games from the lead developers in the future over a failure, but I understand why they would.

Not many people are sympathetic to what it feels like to have to pull the plug. It is a very difficult choice, and it's hard to look it in the eye. Look the community in the eye. Straight out say, We cannot do this, and we made a mistake. After so many years of progress. I inherited a really broken studio with a rotten foundation and I tried my best to gut it and make something beautiful out of it. It's just not something we can do with the tools and staff we have on hand. It is a very large project, ambitious, beautiful in its own right. We are just not prepared enough to see it through.

Its unfortunate so many people are upset with us and instantly throwing us under the bus, but hey that is just the way things are. I know for a fact that one day we will be reapproaching Hiraeth with more knowledge, more capabilities, and a stronger team. Hiraeth will be a game at some point, But when we do start working on him again we will be doing things right.

    The art style was magnificent.

    The staff was incredible.

    And the community was priceless.

Looking forward to finishing Aphelion here soon, sharing it with you all and hopefully rekindling our department leads ambition for creating games and having something playable in front of us. Eventually moving on to another game after that, and continuing the momentum of bond building and critical skill-building that empowers a development team. So we can continue to work on great games, that people can enjoy.

I can't agree with you on that, just because they did this doesn't mean they will NEVER do something right.. Sure it's a shame and all but people deserve a new chance.. besides are you saying Herry fucked things ups well? No.. So If I were you then I would rethink your statement.

I don't plan on rethinking my statement, if you think about it in more detail, the way they spoke and presented the situation at first was unprofessional. I don't care what they did thereafter, the sort of expression they had shown shows that they didn't care about any aftermath. If any of their future projects had a Kickstarter, I would be super hesitant due to the fact that if they cancelled a project in this manner, it wouldn't be pretty for anyone. Reputation is a big part of the game industry, and I even pointed that out in their Discord in the beginning, yet they ignored that and continued to be immature. Yes, I understand that mistakes happen, life is all a learning experience, however if you're apart of such a giant community and have a lot of people that trust you and have faith in you and then you do things like removing your entire team without notice, etc. then it's going to be difficult to come back from that.

I’d like to say that I agree with bits and pieces of what everyone is saying. This project did not have to be put on hiatus. Many coders around the community (and ALL OVER THE INTERNET) would have killed to be part of such a project. Websites like GitHub are great for this sort of community project.

Though I understand the reasoning behind this decision, there were other ways around it besides just giving up, because though failing is a learning experience, giving up gives us nothing.

If this game is indeed continued in the future like the lead developer claims, then good on the studio, but for now this all just seems like a big excuse to throw the game into the trash because of a few people getting discouraged and quitting.

Overall, I believe everybody overreacted and this community could’ve been great for keeping the project going. At least the best of us are still friends on the discord server.

well to be honest dude and you probably didn't know this... the staff members didn't even know the project was "on hold" for the longest time. They literally put in their discord chat " well that's all boys we going to abandon y'all" kinda... the staff members suddenly heared they in reality dropping the project... so is say reno was responsible for this. She took up the role and I don't care about how she thinks about it.. it also disgusts me how she said and I quote "I inherited a really broken studio with a rotten foundation and I tried my best to gut it and make something beautiful out of i"... to me it's one of her excuses again. Maybe the foundation wasn't all that great and all but what matters was the people you work with. Treat them right and things will go well.. the only thing more dangerous then your enemy.. Is pride.

I primarily was talking about the 'Lead Developers' though, as in Creative Director, etc. I'm not talking about the staff members under that ranking. So yes, I don't plan on buying or looking into games created by Reno, I'm perfectly fine with looking into projects by the other developers.

I've been here a long time, and I'm not really sure what to agree or disagree with, so I'm just going to write out my thoughts as I think them.
To start, a long time ago when RShields left he made a post referencing a reddit user talking about how a small indie team building an MMO from the ground up has been tried and tried again, and it is almost always a waste of time. I am inclined to agree with that, though I've always had my doubts until now I suppose. I think a lot of people here are lying if they say their expectations of an unpaid small indie dev team making a massive MMO weren't too high. Of course a lot of work and heart was put into this project but as time came and went a lot of people began to realize it was too ambitious of a game to be making. I think everyone is putting the blame on Reno because let's face it, she can be kind of a ***** sometimes, but she is a very intelligent person and I don't think she's lying when she says she had a rotten foundation and a broken studio to work with. The morale has been low for quite sometime now, and after Owex gave up that was kind of the tipping point of "this isn't working", so I think it's unfair to say that her pulling the plug was all her fault. On the other hand, the community is definitely only growing and I think more time and options could have been at least tried to keep the project on board but what's done is done, both project heads quit and if someone takes command now I don't even think half the community would follow. In all, I don't really know what I expected but the entire community kind of lost it's motivation not just a select few people.

It's probably not my place to say but I feel like the project lead could have at the very least discussed the project closure with fellow staff members beforehand. This project after all doesn't belong to any one individual.

For now I can only hope the future revival of this project will demonstrate better communication skills with its own staff.

I dont mean to judge anyone but i think the devs should have been more honest and more active in communicating about the development of the game, cause everyone here is not a child anymore so i think if u guys would tell us most of the things that happend this type of situations woulnd be necessary.
    Just my opinion

What's done is done. There's no changing how anyone went about anything. If the project is eventually finished, I'll be ecstatic. If not, then at least I got a couple of good years of content. I've waited a long time, but I would rather have a game finished with passion and community support than one that was dragged out just to have the team split after its release. I'll turn my gaze to Yandere Simulator for a while and hopefully when I look back, something with be different.

I don't expect this game to ever release. CA was obviously too big of a step for you guys. If you couldn't even manage to release this, I don't ever expect a project as large as a MMO to be produced. I admire your persistence, but after looking through the AS Google Drive, I completely consider the amount of useable work after all this time to be a complete joke. Disagree with me if you like, but I'd rather be proven wrong over being right about the incompetence of the dev team. Save me the emotional words and show me your determination in results.

im quite sad that who were given access to the google drive.
you must understand that the google drive didnt hold much and most content was held on other platforms.
and im quite disgusted that you were given access to it and at the person that gave you access, there were personal resources and personal docments NOT MEANT FOR YOU, and like i said the "this project is for me and not for the community." So please dont go demanding to see results like your owed something. I plan on finishing my work and releasing it as an art of book. This will be featuring the Races of Hiraeth along with their racial goods, weapons and armor along with creatures concepts, storyboards too!
